Standard of Practice 16-13 requires that "before providing a CMA Realtors shall ask prospects whether they are a party to any exclusive representation agreement." The purpose of a CMA is to establish a fair market value for a home when the owner is considering selling his/her home and may consider using my services to market their home. CMA's do not establish a home's value to contest a tax assessment or determine a value for a refinancing of a home. In those cases, the homeowner will need to work with an Appraiser.
